OUR HISTORY
Blendtonel’s Fruï Zest (Pty) Ltd., is a business specializing in yogurt fruit pulp preparations, drinking yogurt syrups, milk blend concentrates, pie fillings, cake toppings, jams and ice cream ripples.

The Directors and Sole Shareholders are brothers, Pieter and Theuns Nel, who established the business on 1 February 1997. While production and procurement fall under Pieter’s management, Theuns heads up Sales and Marketing, Finance and Administration, Research and Development and Quality Assurance. The Company is still managed on a hands on basis by the brothers, who operate on an open door policy.

Production commenced on 1 March 1997. Initially, products were supplied to a few small dairies. Blendtonel’s, has more than 800 clients, which include five multi-national companies, and more than 500 one man businesses in the hawker trade. Clients are situated in all nine provinces of South Africa, and in more than 10 African countries.
THE COMPANY
Raw materials are sourced from fourteen different countries in the world – local suppliers are always the first option if possible. The fresh and frozen fruits are of the highest quality and are subjected to stringent quality testing at both source and destination to ensure no substandard fruits are utilized in production.

All raw materials are quality checked and relevant documentation is put in place to ensure traceability. We believe that what you put in is what you get out! On the fruit side of procurement, Blendtonel’s is well connected to various fruit specialists in South Africa and overseas. Blendtonel’s network includes the two biggest frozen fruit suppliers in the world.

Our Procurement Mission is to ensure a continuous supply of high quality raw materials at competitive prices, to know our suppliers and their processes, and to grow the business together, maintaining long term relationships.
PROCUREMENT
Blendtonel’s Fruï Zest has its own pilot plant and research and development laboratory where formulations are constantly improved and new products developed. The R&D team also has access to international companies know how and experience.
RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT
Hendrik Henrico, is the Production Manager, who started with the Company when it was still in its formative years. He has gained a wealth of experience and has trained most of the production team personally.

The factory is owned by Blendtonel’s Fruï Zest (Pty) Ltd., and was custom built for specialized processing. Blendtonel’s is able to produce 1000 tons of product in a working month and has the capacity to double output with minor adjustments. Production is run by a team of food technologists. Processing is done in a 3400sqm hygienic facility with ultra modern, specialized equipment.

The factory has the ability to pack aseptically. One of Blendtonel’s strong points is the flexibility of the factory. Products can be produced and packed in varying quantities and packaging, including tote bins. Products are generally manufactured to client specifications and we manufacture 200 different products.
PRODUCTION
All sales are processed from the factory premises. Blendtonel’s has maintained its policy of striving to satisfy even the smallest of customers. Walk in and entry level customers are afforded expertise and assistance wherever possible.
